One Linlithgow wastes no time to deliver business plan

A key objective for the One Linlithgow business plan for the next five-year BID term is to build on the successes already achieved in Linlithgow. To keep up with the times to remain a relevant, vibrant town centre to serve the needs of the local community and visitors to our historic town.

To achieve this, the BID team have immediately started to work on delivering the latest business plan that achieved a clear mandate of a 70% Yes vote from the businesses in town.

Evelyn Noble, chair of the One Linlithgow BID said “While we are really pleased with the results of the ballot for the town, we are not celebrating as if we’ve won anything. Uncertain times are ahead of us all and there is a lot of hard work to be done over the next five years to keep Linlithgow in the spotlight and encourage people to support local businesses. We also are tasked with helping to maintain standards and keep people safe with our CCTV, despite the local authority being unable to provide any additional financial support during a new BID term, over and above their levy payments for the properties they occupy.”

 Halloween and Christmas 2024

Linlithgow Halloween Pumpkin Trail 2024

The BID team are now working on projects up to Christmas, with a Halloween pumpkin trail to launch for late October. The Sky TV advert will run once again across the region on the up to Christmas Eve, to encourage people to visit Linlithgow for some festive purchases.

The festive lights installation has already been commissioned and an upgrade of the town CCTV will be implemented with active collaboration from the Police.

Enthusiasts of the Linlithgow Loyalty Lottery will also be able to carry on collecting their stamps each month from businesses to participate in the monthly lottery and the webcam streaming service at the Cross will continue.

The news will be also welcomed by Burgh Beautiful and the ‘Black Bitch’ Community magazine who are longstanding collaborators, supported by One Linlithgow. The levy funding from businesses for the plants in the town will be able to continue and the One Linlithgow double page will resume in the next edition of the magazine.

Board Members

As part of a plan to pro-actively move forward for Linlithgow, business owners from specific business sectors will be invited to join the One Linlithgow board of directors. Some of the current directors have made the decision to stand down over the coming months after their five-year term in office as volunteer directors.

Diana Kelly, owner of Specsavers Linlithgow, said “It has been a great honour to work with fellow Linlithgow business owners as a volunteer director, to continually develop and improve Linlithgow. I believe it is now time for businesspeople from other sectors to get involved. The current BID team are a pleasure to work with, as they know what they are doing and have only just got started on their plans for the town. I also believe they will deliver the business plan you all voted on, that will make the role of directors a pleasure.”

A key message from the One Linlithgow BID board and team, heading into a new BID term and representing 250 businesses, is let’s continue to work together for all businesses and our community in Linlithgow.

It’s also a shout out to local people to support local businesses. Likes, shares and selfies only take a few seconds and are generally free. The truth is that businesses in Linlithgow need just some of your hard-earned cash as well.

Never mind the ballots…

...here's One Linlithgow!

On 1st October 2019, following the previous day's announcement of its decisive victory at ballot, One Linlithgow was born. It is an Improvement District, which means that it's subsidised by the businesses of Linlithgow and, by extension, that it exists primarily to represent their interests and to make Linlithgow a better place to live, work and do business.

To the businesses, community groups and Steering Group volunteers, who made it possible to secure five more years of guaranteed, targeted investment in our amazing town... thank you.
